Birkenblatt

Luft, flügelgeteilt, kaum hörbar

die Gänse gezogen

vorbei am heiligen Berg.

Im Land, wo Steine wachsen

aus Tundra und Moor,

tropft der Wind, gelb,

ein Stück Vergehen in meine Hand.

Es ist Zeit, zu bauen

daraus ein Nest.

Noch einmal will ich

spüren deinen Herzschlag,

Wind, an mir.

__________

Birch Leaf

Air, wingsplit; barely heard

the geese that passed on

by the holy mount.

In the land where stones grow

from tundra and bog,

wind drips, yellow,

a piece of passing in my hand.

It is time to build

a nest from it.

Once again I wish

to feel your heartbeat,

wind, on me.

Der Wind

Der Wind

ist eine alte

weißbehaarte Frau,

singend,

unterm Mond, seinen Wolken-

fetzen, vom Gang

ihrer Jugend.

Schief sie trieb

der Sturm,

nur einmal gekreuzt

ihren Weg er,

aufpeitscht das Wasser.

__________

The Wind

The wind

is an old

white-haired woman,

singing,

beneath the moon, his cloud-

shreds, about the steps

of her youth.

Downward the storm

drove her,

only once, her path

crossed,

the water whipped up.

Routine

Dem Kreis,

den wir erfahren,

bin ich sinnlos:

Erst wehre ich mich

gegen die Lügen,

dann stehe ich drin,

konserviert wie eine Leiche

im Moorwasser,

und das Laub

schreit mir entgegen.

__________

Routine

For the circle,

we experience,

I am meaningless:

I defend myself first

against the lies,

then I’m in the thick of it,

preserved like a corpse

in bog water,

and the foliage

screams towards me.

Bewegte Nacht

Gefallen bin ich

aus dem Raum:

Die Erde ist rund,

der Kreis ist eckig,

schreib ich auch, schreib ich

so innerer zu dir.

Und am Ende der Welt

sitz ich und blick

weiter noch,

frische Monde zeigen.

__________

Night that Moved

Fallen I am

out of space.

The earth is round,

the circle square,

I write too, I write

more inwardly to you.

And at the end of the world

I sit and look

farther still,

showing fresh moons.

Apokalypse

Wie will man das Licht bevölkern?

Noch die letzten Tage

fotografieren

für die Nachkommen,

gefangen am Boden

der Erhaltung.

                                    (für Vlado Kristl)

__________

Apocalypse

How to populate the light?

Photograph

the last days too

for those to come,

caught at the ground

of preservation.
